General Interviewing Techniques (GIT) Training

  1. Pre-test

    2. September 22 – 26, 2024 | ISER-N, Fulbari Campus

    Objective:To introduce interviewers to the CVFS-SCAN project goals and provide fundamental skills in interviewing, including rapport building, informed consent, research ethics, confidentiality, and basic probing techniques. The training also aimed to prepare interviewers for pre-test fieldwork through practice sessions and supervised field exercises in Ratnanagar Municipality.

    Trainers: Core ISER-N team: Dr. Dirgha Jibi Ghimire, Ms. Indra Chaudhary, Mr. Prem Pandit, Mr. Hardik Sapkota, Ms. Adina Gurung, and Mr. Rajendra Ghimire.
    Participants: 20 interviewers from diverse educational and social backgrounds.

  2. Part I Production

    3. January 22–28, 2025 | ISER-N, Fulbari Campus

    Objective:To reinforce and expand interviewer skills gained during the pre-test, addressing lessons learned and ensuring readiness for large-scale fieldwork. Special focus was given to strengthening probing, active listening, handling sensitive topics, and using CAPI systems (SurveyTrak and Blaise). Supervised field practice in Ratnanagar Municipality was included.

    Trainers: Core ISER-N team: Dr. Dirgha Jibi Ghimire, Ms. Indra Chaudhary, Mr. Prem Pandit, Mr. Hardik Sapkota, Ms. Adina Gurung, and Mr. Rajendra Ghimire.
    Participants: 42 participants, including interviewers and assistant research officers selected for production interviews.

  3. Part II Production

    4. June 18–21, 2025

    Objective:To reinforce and expand new interviewers’ skills in general interviewing techniques and ensure readiness for Part II production. Special focus was given to strengthening probing, active listening, handling sensitive topics, and using CAPI systems (SurveyTrak and Blaise). Supervised field practice in Ratnanagar Municipality was included.

    Participants: 15 new interviewers selected for production interviews.
